Belize is a small coastal nation on the Caribbean side of the Yucatan Peninsula. With a large tourist industry, it's people are warm and friendly. However it remains mainly an agricultural country with a significant part of the population living in poverty. So BandS participates in clinics organized by the Broken Arrow Church of Christ from Oklahoma, and contributes by providing volunteers and medical supplies.

Belize Volunteer

These trips usually last a week and are great for rookies who are just getting started with medical missions. Belize is a short flight from Houston, and it is the only English speaking country in Central America. Clinics are held in public buildings where conditions are good, and accommodations for the volunteers are also comfortable.

The population of Belize is nominally Christian. Many become interested in deepening their faith after experiencing the kindness and healing spirit that they receive at these clinics. And after spending most of the week serving those in need, volunteers usually take a few days off to enjoy some of the local culture. Belize has miles of beautiful beaches and there are Mayan ruins scattered throughout the countryside.
